Client relations specialist Olivia Young became a member of the PVH team in January 2015. A graduate of Central York High School and a busy mother of two, she has worked both as a licensed nail technician and as a certified facilitator for a local Montessori learning center. Her administrative skills and her great compassion for animals have made her a valuable asset to the CR team.

While growing up in York, Olivia remembers that her childhood pets were limited to the occasional goldfish won at a carnival or purchased at the pet store. But all of that changed when she first met her fiancé, Paul.

“My number of pets grew drastically when I met him!” she laughs. “He’s a huge animal lover—he’s the only reason that I have so many animals.”

Olivia adapted quickly to a multi-pet household and today lives quite contentedly among dogs, cats, ferrets, a hamster, several birds and a spoiled iguana named Lucky! Along with a teenage son and a preteen daughter, the entire group has become a very special blended family.

“I don’t think of pets as just animals,” she explains. “They need as much care as kids do. Animals are the love of my life, just as my children are.”

Olivia is an avid reader and believes strongly in self learning. Her interest in animal health care has led her to devour countless books, articles, online videos and demonstrations, and veterinary magazines. She hopes to learn as much as she can so that she can share the knowledge with fellow pet owners and PVH clients.

“I want to continue to educate the owners as well as myself. You can learn a lot from studying on your own. If you’re not going to do it for yourself, who’s going to do it for you?”

During her time at PVH, she has felt the support of a dedicated staff as well as the strong leadership of Dr Schmidt and the management team. Even as a trainee she noticed how freely each of the supervisors acknowledge everyone’s work and inspire personal growth.

“I have to say that there’s a lot of great teamwork involved here,” Olivia says. “I like the communication among the staff. Even when things get crazy, everyone is holding their own ends together and working as a team.”
