Brandy Brenner joined the PVH nursing staff in February 2012. A graduate of Dover High School, Brandy worked for several years at Valley Green Veterinary Hospital in Etters, and at The Meadows Pet Resort in Strinestown. Although her working life has mainly been spent in animal care, Brandy admits that this was never a conscious decision. She believes that her work in the veterinary field came about naturally.

“I always connected well with animals,” she says. From an early age, Brandy remembers visiting animal hospitals with her mother and aunt, both of whom worked as veterinary nurses. She developed a keen interest in the day to day operations as she watched a variety of medical procedures being performed. She also gained respect for homeless pets during the times when she and her mother volunteered at the SPCA.

It was while working in Etters that Brandy met one particular dog who stole her heart and refused to give it back. A 10-wk old male Chihuahua mix was brought in whose bones in early development were very small and brittle. After multiple breaks over a period of several weeks, the puppy underwent surgery to remove one of his legs. In need of a home and very popular among the nurses, the little guy eventually moved in with Brandy and was given a very sophisticated name—Simon Peter Joseph Roo. Now 3 years old, Roo is happy, healthy and quite mobile on his remaining legs.

Brandy has already passed on her family’s love of animals to daughter Maya, who has attended several meetings of the PVH Kids Club.
