Kristina

Born in Baltimore, PVH nurse Kristina Seymore has spent her entire life assisting in the care of animals. She owned her first horse at the age of 8 and grew up to find work in several areas of the animal care field, from milking cows on a dairy farm to working as a technician at an equine clinic which specialized in the breeding of horses. And since 2007, she has been a valuable member of the PVH nursing team.

“I enjoy surgery a lot,” says Kristina, who typically works with hospitalized pets who have been admitted for surgery and dental cleanings. “I feel like everyday is a new challenge. It’s never the same thing everyday.”

Many of those surgeries are known as “exploratory”, when a cat or dog may have swallowed a foreign object which is causing them pain and distress. Kristina refers to those procedures as “instant gratification”, when the doctor is able to relieve the animal’s suffering simply by locating and removing the unwanted toy, rock, article of clothing, or gadget from its digestive system. She enjoys those moments the most, when a pet arrives feeling ill, the problem is diagnosed and resolved, and the pet is able to bounce back right away.

Outside the hospital, Kristina has two sons, Tyler and Austin, who often help out at special events like the PVH Kids Club. Kristina is truly an active mom who never passes up a chance to hang out with the men in her life, and freely admits, “At this point my world revolves around soccer, basketball and fishing!”
