Tiffany – Nursing Coordinator

Adopted: June 2009
Number of pets: 12!

Tiffany Sipe joined the nursing team at PVH in June 2009 and currently serves as surgery coordinator. Although she spent several years in the job field of computer programming and data processing, her natural love of animals inspired her to change careers. She found her first veterinary job at East York Veterinary Center, where she worked for three years before making the leap to PVH.

Her reason for joining the animal care field was simple. “I wanted to know how to take better care of my own pets,” she says. Over time, the experience and education of veterinary nursing has allowed her to pass her own skills along to others. “I like educating the clients to make sure they have the best information.” Today she continues her training by pursuing her veterinary technician certification through Penn Foster.

As surgery coordinator, Tiffany’s primary goal is to make the surgical zone at PVH run smoothly. She guides the doctors and nursing staff through their schedule of surgical procedures and dental cleanings, taking an active role in both the operating room and in the daily care of hospitalized pets.

In addition to her hours at the hospital, Tiffany’s day also includes caring for her own family of pets. Along with her beloved greyhound Sweetie, she has also rescued a number of goats, and raises both chickens and peacocks. Her appreciation of peacocks began with her grandfather, who kept them as pets for as long as she can remember.

“They are great watch birds, and they will let out a holler if something isn’t right,” she says of their unusual vocal calls. “It sounds like they’re yelling for help!”
