Dr. Sabrina Walters

Dr. Sabrina Walters was born and raised in the Harrisburg area, and always knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from East Pennsboro Area High School in Enola, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Slippery Rock University in Western Pennsylvania where she also met her husband Jeff.

The VMD behind her name signifies that she is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, which keeps old tradition alive by granting the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in Latin. Shortly after completing her studies in 2000, Dr. Walters began working with Dr. Douglas Schmidt at the tiny original building which housed the Patton Veterinary Hospital on Pleasant Avenue. She has watched PVH grow and undergo many changes over the years.

Dr. Walters currently resides in Red Lion with her husband and  two active terriers adopted January 2014 from a local rescue after losing Stanley, their well-loved, highly personable and deeply missed Jack Russell Terrier of nearly eleven years.. She enjoys all aspects of her work in veterinary medicine, but holds a special fondness for soft tissue surgery and for helping senior pets stay healthy and age gracefully.

Though she was 28 years old when she flew in an airplane for the first time to the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Dr. Walters has since become an avid traveler. She and her husband have set a goal to visit as many of our National Parks as possible.

In her off-duty hours, she enjoys walking with Jeff and their dogs in York’s many parks, and indulging in her love of photography. She loves taking photos while on vacation, and also taking pictures of her pups . . . in the rare moments when they are still!

Dr. Walters’ other hobbies include going to the movies (especially if it’s a zombie flick!) and relaxing on the sofa with a good book. She was lucky enough to once meet her favorite author, Stephen King.

Dr. Walters is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association. She also participated as a speaker for the York Junior Achievement’s pilot program known as the STEM Summit (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) at Kennard-Dale High School in May 2013.
