2016 Pet-Related Holiday Events in York

Holiday Events at Patton Veterinary Hospital and the Red Lion Area December 2016

It's hard to believe that it is Christmas time again!  Though the weather has been mild, signs of the season are popping up all over.  As usual, Patton Veterinary Hospital and several area shelters have some holiday events lined up for you and your pets.

Patton Veterinary Hospital will once again be collecting pet food and supplies for pets owned by members of the Golden Connections Community Center (formerly the Red Lion Area Senior Center).  Collections of pet food, pet toys, beds, and other pet care items for dogs and cats are being accepted at PVH through December 17th and will be delivered on December 22nd.  New items only, please.

Check out the PVH sponsored Christmas tree at Rocky Ridge Park’s Christmas Magic display through December 31st.  This year, it is adorned with festive feline ornaments in honor of Patton’s Cat Hospital!  Please check the county parks website (there is a link on the Patton page under “events”) for specific dates and hours.

The York County SPCA is once again selling memorial luminaries which will be displayed one night only on December 17th   beginning at 4PM.  Walking the path lined with glowing luminaries is a peaceful experience and a nice way to not only remember our beloved pets who are no longer with us or to honor a special pet, but also to support our ASPCA.

YCSPCA is also hosting pet photos with Santa on December 10th at 10 AM or consider buying a holiday pet ornament for their tree.  More information and order forms are available on www.yspca.org under the “What’s New” tab.

York area Petco stores area also offering holiday photos with Santa December 10th and 17th.  The website states “You will receive a photo keepsake frame, and 100% of the…proceeds helps animals this holiday season.”

Don’t forget Animal Rescue, Inc. in New Freedom (https://animalrescueinc.org)  and Tail’s End Farm Animal Rescue in Wrightsville  (https://www.facebook.com/TailsEndFarmAnimalRescue).  These local rescues can always use donations and “wish list” items.  Consider supporting them if you have a little extra Christmas cash to go around.

We hope that you will take advantage of some of these events to help get into the spirit of Christmas and to benefit York area pets.  Enjoy the holiday season!
