December Happenings at PVH

Patton Veterinary Hospital’s December Events

For the ninth year, Patton Veterinary Hospital will be collecting pet food, cat litter, toys and monetary donations to benefit the Red Lion Senior Center as part of the Pet Meals on Wheels program.  This holiday event provides much needed items to seniors who own pets and is always a hit with the recipients.  We have 43 seniors in need this year so we need lots of help to brighten their holidays!  Most of the pets are dogs and cats, but this year there are also two birds!  Donations of new bags or cans of pet food, toys, pet beds and cat litter may be dropped off at Patton Veterinary Hospital through December 14th.

Come check out our Christmas tree decorated with ornaments made by participants in the PVH Kids’ Club at Christmas Magic!  Christmas Magic is held at Rocky Ridge County Park starting November 28th and runs through December 31st!  (Note:  Christmas Magic is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).  The kids did a great job making ornaments with the theme “The Future of Our Pets is in Our Children’s Hands.”  In addition, Christmas Magic hosts a Pet Night on Wednesday, December 3rd (rain date December 4th) when you can bring your pet to walk through the lighted display during regular admission hours.

Finally, the York County SPCA has luminaries for purchase (download an order form or get more info at www.ycspca.org/2014-luminary-festival/ ). The luminaries can be viewed outside the SPCA building on December 14th and 21st and proceeds benefit the SPCA.  This is not sponsored by or affiliated with Patton, but it is a nice way to memorialize or honor a special pet.  I purchased one in memory of Stanley last year, and though sad it was also somehow comforting to walk the path around the building and see all the softly glowing lights representing so many beloved pets.

So, lend a hand with the meals on wheels program, check out the PVH tree at Christmas Magic and consider taking a trip to the SPCA to see the luminaries or purchasing one to benefit the SPCA this December.
