Dr. Shelby Ziegler joined the Patton Veterinary Hospital team in March 2025. Originally from Gainesville, Florida, she earned both her undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. Her passion for animal care began early—volunteering at local veterinary clinics and wildlife sanctuaries, where she especially enjoyed working with birds of prey and seeing wildlife patients return to health and freedom.
Dr. Ziegler is deeply committed to preserving and nurturing the human-animal bond. Whether caring for a beloved pet or helping wildlife heal, she believes that every animal deserves exceptional care and compassion. “Animals bring such joy,” she says, “whether they’re our companions or seen in their natural habitat.”
At home, Dr. Ziegler shares life with her “bestest buddy” Jack, a loyal Catahoula Hound mix she’s had since undergrad, and Tortellini, a laid-back leopard tortoise who loves his time outside. She recently moved to Pennsylvania after marrying her husband and is excited to put down roots here.
In her free time, Dr. Ziegler enjoys hiking, gardening, traveling, and birdwatching. She and her husband are on a mission to visit as many national parks as possible—so far, they’ve explored five, including favorites like Yosemite and Yellowstone.
Her favorite guiding principle is from 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Let all you do be done in love.” It’s a sentiment that shines through in everything she does, making her a compassionate and dedicated member of the PVH family.
