Celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week!

Join Us In Celebrating Patton Veterinary Hospital's Awesome Technicians!

October 11-17 is National Veterinary Technician Week.  We take this week to celebrate all of our hard working veterinary nurses.  They are truly the heart and soul of our hospital and we could not do what we do without them.

A veterinary technician performs many jobs.  She is a trimmer of nails, a placer of IV catheters, a cuddler of pets waking from anesthesia.  Vet techs are strong, resilient, compassionate, and trustworthy.  They come up with ingenious solutions to all sorts of problems and are adaptable and creative.  They suffer sore backs, scratches and bites, and being covered in urine and blood, but they come back every day ready to work with a smile.  They are truly a unique breed of employee and they deserve to be recognized for all of the many things they do.

At a recent staff meeting, we reviewed what we as a hospital thought our core values should be and what traits a PVH employee should have.  Many traits were mentioned, but these six came up again and again.  Be present or be in the moment, honesty, empathy, accountability, respect, and dedication.  We made this into the acronym Be H E A R D.  This not only lists the ideals that we think are important, but also has a second meaning that everyone’s opinion is heard.  We are a family and the ideas of the newest employees are just as important as those of the seasoned veterans.  Everyone’s opinion is valued and we each have a voice.  Our PVH nurses have all of these important qualities and more.

We also discussed what it means to trust someone.  We know that our clients and the community put enormous trust in our doctors and our hospital to take care of those very special four-legged members of their families.  That trust extends among our staff members and we all expect everyone to be committed to doing the best job they can do every day.   We give our nurses a lot of responsibility and we trust them explicitly with our pets and yours.  They take their oath seriously and they deliver on their promise of excellence in patient care every single day of the year.

All of the doctors and staff at Patton Veterinary Hospital want to say a big thank you to our 19 veterinary technicians!  Your pride and dedication to your field is so appreciated!

THANK YOU:  Kate, Brandy, Krista, Icicle, Nikkie K., Shari, Tabby, Carley, Kristina, Nikki F., Tiffany, Brittany, Jen, Taylor S., Stephanie, Sarah, Becky, Mitzi and honorary technician, Carrie!!!

Please give these wonderful women a shout out this week when you see them!
